Doosan Robotics Declares AI-Driven Innovation: Launches Intelligent Robot Solutions and Accelerates Humanoid Technology Development
2025. 04. 14
Doosan Robotics has declared 2025 as a pivotal year for transformation, unveiling its strategy to pursue AI-centered innovation.
On April 14, Doosan Robotics announced it held a town hall meeting at its headquarters in Bundang, attended by all employees, including CEO Kevin Kim. During the session, Kim announced the company's transition from a hardware-centric business model to one focused on "intelligent robot solutions," while simultaneously investing in the development of humanoid technologies. He urged employees to embrace bold organizational change and innovation to deliver swift outcomes.
The new "Intelligent Robot Solution" integrates collaborative robot (cobot) hardware, software, and artificial intelligence into a plug-and-play system that is easy to install and operate. Through AI, it optimizes task routes and sequences to minimize operation time and allows for collaborative work across multiple robots to enhance efficiency.
Specifically, the solution leverages Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) to improve precision and task-specific optimization in fields such as logistics, welding, and coffee preparation. It is designed to comply with global safety standards, making maintenance more manageable.
Doosan Robotics plans to first release its intelligent robot solutions for manufacturing automation within the year, and then gradually expand to other domains.
In addition, the company is accelerating its efforts to enter the "practical humanoid" business by securing top talent early. Starting April 21, Doosan Robotics will launch a large-scale recruitment campaign via its website and various job platforms, targeting experienced professionals across robotics research and development, application engineering, AI, software, user experience (UX), quality, and sales.
In the second half of 2025, the company will establish dedicated research and development teams for AI/Software and humanoid development. It also plans to build an integrated Research and Development Center equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to support next-generation robot development.
Doosan Robotics defines "practical humanoids" as robots that can perform user-requested tasks with maximum efficiency by optimizing their form and function. To support this vision, the company is proactively developing several key technologies:
- Multi-arm simultaneous control technology for executing complex, delicate tasks with multiple robotic arms
- Collision avoidance technology using sensors and algorithms for safe operation in diverse environments
- Long-horizon task technology enabling robots to autonomously plan and execute multi-step complex tasks
These innovations will also be applied to the company's intelligent robot solutions, creating synergy and accelerating internalization.
According to Morgan Stanley's The Humanoid-100 report, the market for AI-based robotic solutions is projected to grow from approximately KRW 6 trillion in 2030 to KRW 338 trillion by 2040, driven by increasing demand for process automation.
To support this ambitious growth, Doosan Robotics is also adopting a Blitzscaling strategy—designed to break organizational inertia and rapidly achieve market dominance through overwhelming execution speed. Under this framework, the company will focus on:
- Concentrating resources on core technologies and businesses
- Eliminating resistance to change and building a performance-driven culture
- Strengthening fast and innovative execution capabilities
CEO Kevin Kim stated, "To go beyond the collaborative robot market and become a top-tier player in the larger intelligent robot sector, we must drive technological breakthroughs to create product differentiation and deliver greater value to customers." He added, "We will mobilize all available resources—from technology development and internalization to strategic partnerships and M&A opportunities—while establishing an execution-focused culture to sustain innovation."
Meanwhile, Doosan Robotics has also joined the newly launched K-Humanoid Alliance as a robot manufacturer. Through this initiative, the company will contribute to developing core hardware technologies, training talent, and supporting startups, thereby strengthening Korea's robotics ecosystem and securing its competitive edge.
