Doosan Robotics is accelerating its business by developing and commercializing various F&B (food and beverage) solutions using collaborative robots for beer dispensing, cocktail making, and more.

Doosan Robotics announced on the 23rd that it has supplied a collaborative robot beer dispensing solution to the Airbot Bar store in Culinary Square by Ourhome located in Terminal 2 of Incheon International Airport.

Doosan Robotics signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Incheon International Airport Corporation in May last year to "establish a collaborative system for digital transformation." They have since been collaborating to create a food zone to provide unique attractions for tourists at home and abroad. The two companies plan to explore various projects, including baggage handling solutions, in addition to F&B solutions such as coffee and noodles, starting with the Airbot Bar store, which uses the beer dispensing solution.

The beer dispensing solution is carried out by the E-series, a collaborative E-series robot certified by the U.S. National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) for food safety and hygiene. It performs all operations in one process, from picking up disposable cups from trays, dispensing draft beer, delivering from the pick-up zone, and washing. It can store up to 8 kegs (40 L) of draft beer, and it takes only about 43 seconds to pour beer into a 14-ounce cup (414 mL), while maintaining the ratio of beer-to-foam at a constant level for optimal taste.

On the 15th, Doosan Robotics also supplied an AI-based collaborative robot cocktail-making solution to Lotte Duty Free at Gimpo International Airport.
The cocktail-making solution uses AI technology, cameras, and sensors to analyze people's subtle facial expressions and classifies their current emotional states into seven emotions: neutral, happiness, sadness, anger, fear, unpleasantness, and surprise. It then recommends and makes cocktails that match each emotion.
In particular, the generative AI, which has learned the recipes from professional bartenders, finds optimal combinations and makes a total of 19 different cocktails. Two food and beverage (F&B) collaborative robots move organizationally to perform tasks such as dispensing drinks, shaking cocktails, picking up and delivering cups, and washing cocktail shakers.
An official from Doosan Robotics said, "We have been focusing on expanding our customers base by continuously diversifying our F&B solutions that use collaborative robots, from coffee, fries, and noodles to beer dispensing and cocktail making," and added, "Unlike production and manufacturing sites, the F&B field has more points of contact with general customers, so we will develop solutions that offer both convenience and pleasant of viewing."

Last year, Doosan Robotics supplied a group catering frying solution to schools in Chuncheon and Daegu, capable of completing frying work for about 860 servings in less than two hours, by simultaneously using six frying baskets. Using this solution, it is possible to reduce cooking fumes, which are highly concentrated fine dust, generated during cooking, by more than 50%, and prevent musculoskeletal and respiratory diseases as well as burns caused by repetitive movements, oil fumes, and other factors.

Doosan Robotics is also currently pilot-operating its barista solutions at six Mega MGC Coffee stores, including the Konkuk University Star City Mall and City Hall Station branches. The barista solution works in conjunction with grinders and semi-automatic espresso machines, with the collaborative robot performing continuous movements such as extracting espresso while preparing for the next extraction. This reduces the workload of baristas and increases work efficiency by taking over the simple repetitive movements that strain the wrists.

Plus, Doosan Robotics has also supplied VIPS stores with a noodle solution capable of making more than 10 kinds of noodle dishes, such as udon and pho, at a rate of 40-50 bowls per hour, customized to customer's tastes.
