Doosan Robotics unveiled its P Series, a collaborative robot for palletizing, at an exhibition in the US
2024. 05. 07
Doosan Robotics is participating in the largest automation technology and robot exhibition in North America, unveiling new products and showcasing various collaborative robot solutions.
On the 7th, Doosan Robotics announced that it is participating in "Automate 2024" held in Chicago, USA from the 6th to the 9th (local time).
Automate is North America’s largest automation technology and robot exhibition, where global companies related to automation systems, robots, motion control, and more showcase their products, technologies, and solutions, and create networks.
Doosan Robotics introduced its P-Series collaborative robot lineup at the exhibition, including the P3020, which has a payload* of 30 kg and a working radius of 2,030 mm. The P-series is a collaborative robot specialized for palletizing, which sorts and loads goods onto pallets during the logistics and transportation process, with the industry's highest payload and working radius.
Payload: The maximum weight the robot can lift
Especially with its gravity compensation technology, it is relatively lighter and less power-consuming than competing products with similar specifications. It can also palletize up to a height of 2 m in height without auxiliary lift equipment, and has achieved the industry's highest safety rating (PLe, Cat4) for the safety of workers working with it.
*PL, Cat: Functional Safety Assessment Rating of TUV SUD, an internationally accredited testing and certification agency based in Germany
- PL (Performance Level): Reliability rating of the safety system, classified from PLa to PLe, with e being the highest rating.
- Cat (Category): Classification criteria for safety systems, classified from 1 to 4, with 4 being the highest level.
Palletizing solutions are used in a variety of fields, including manufacturing, logistics, and food and beverage (F&B). Demand has been steadily increasing not only domestically but also in North America and Europe. According to market research firm Fact.MR, the palletizing robot market is growing at an average annual rate of 9.4% and is expected to reach $10.156 billion (approximately 13.2 trillion won) by 2033.
In 2022, Doosan Robotics achieved a market share of about 72% in the global collaborative robot market, which is primarily used for palletizing solutions with payloads of 20 kg or more. It has supplied palletizing solutions to global customers such as the manufacturing plant of the Korean branch of Wacker, a German chemical company, and Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.
At this exhibition, Doosan Robotics will also introduce a variety of collaborative robot solutions for food and beverage (F&B), manufacturing, and more using its proprietary software platform, Dart-Suite.
The F&B solutions include AI-controlled cocktail making, which was unveiled at CES 2024 in January, the unmanned modular robot cafe DR.PRESSO, and automated cake decorating and lettering work.
Manufacturing solutions include ▲ Artificial intelligence vision sensor-based depalletizing (goods sorting), ▲ machine tending (loading and unloading products), ▲ welding, and ▲ sanding & polishing to refine and polish surfaces.
In addition, Doosan Robotics has organized events such as hands-on experience with robot education kits and collaborative robot drum performances to increase visitors' interest and engagement in collaborative robots.
Junghoon Ryu, CEO of Doosan Robotics, said, "This year, we plan to expand the scale of our exhibition booth and further diversify our collaborative robot solutions to actively promote our technical capabilities and excellence of our products," and added, "With the launch of the P Series this year, we will expand our collaborative robot lineup and further expand our sales volume in the global collaborative robot market by strengthening our sales force of in overseas subsidiaries."
Doosan Robotics established its US subsidiary, Doosan Robotics Americas, in Plano, Texas in 2022, and plans to establish a European branch in Düsseldorf, Germany in the first half of this year.
