Doosan Robotics Maximizes Synergy Through Integrated R&D Capabilities, Accelerating Technology and Product Innovation
2025. 09. 15

Doosan Robotics announced on the 15th the grand opening of the Doosan Robotics Innovation Center, a new facility designed to maximize synergy by integrating its robot research and development (R&D) capabilities.
Located in Gumi-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, the Innovation Center spans approximately 6,600 square meters, making it the largest robotics research facility in Korea’s robotics industry. Here, around 80 researchers—accounting for 40% of the company’s workforce—will collaborate closely to drive innovation in intelligent robot solutions and humanoid technologies, advance robot hardware, develop AI specialized for robotics, and strengthen software capabilities.
The Innovation Center brings together all essential R&D resources under one roof, ranging from the development of core robot components such as high-performance drive modules, controllers, and torque sensors, to AI-based motion research, new solution development for tasks like palletizing and welding, and comprehensive quality testing. This integrated approach allows researchers to meet and resolve challenges in real time, which is expected to significantly accelerate the development of new technologies and products.
The largest area in the center is dedicated to rigorous quality testing. Here, robots are subjected to extensive trials, such as thousands of power on/off cycles and continuous movement tests with robotic arms extending up to two meters while carrying objects. Doosan Robotics has also installed temperature and humidity test chambers to simulate extreme environments, ensuring reliability and durability by verifying operation outside standard temperature ranges.
Additionally, the center includes specialized workspaces equipped with local exhaust and ventilation systems to support tasks such as sanding and welding, prioritizing both worker health and safety.
At the Innovation Center, Doosan Robotics is advancing practical humanoid technologies that enable robots to perform user-requested tasks with optimal efficiency in both form and function. The company is focused on developing breakthrough intelligent robot solutions, such as multi-arm simultaneous control technology, which allows robots to handle complex and delicate operations by coordinating multiple arms at once. In addition, Doosan Robotics is working on collision avoidance technology that leverages advanced sensors and algorithms to ensure safe operation across various environments. The development of long-horizon task technology is also underway, empowering robots to autonomously plan and execute multi-stage, intricate tasks without human intervention. Through these innovations, Doosan Robotics is setting new industry standards and redefining what is possible in intelligent automation.
In a strategic move to lead AI and software development, Doosan Robotics has appointed Oh Chang-hoon, former CTO of Toss Securities, as Executive Vice President. A renowned software expert, Oh has designed and managed core architectures for platforms serving tens of millions of users at Naver, Toss, and Toss Securities, enhancing both reliability and the pace of AI innovation. He will focus on advancing learning environments and core logic for intelligent robot solutions and humanoids, strengthening Doosan Robotics’ next-generation AI and software capabilities.
Doosan Robotics CEO Keven Kim stated, “Since our AI innovation declaration in April, we have steadily implemented key initiatives to become a leading intelligent robot solution company, including hiring talented professionals, reorganizing the company, acquiring a U.S. robotics solutions provider, and launching the Innovation Center. Moving forward, we will leverage accumulated industrial data and the expertise of our outstanding research staff to advance AI technology, positioning Doosan Robotics as a leader in the era of Physical AI.”
